Lecture: “Naive Citizen”
TUESDAY / 27.11. / 17:00 / KKC / TICKETS: WWW.BILESUSERVISS.LV
The central motif of the CITIZENS lecture cycle is urban environment’s effect on individual’s consciousness, discussing both socially important topics (totalitarianism or resistance to any kind of political power), as well as looking at a nomadic individual (the myth of the search as a motif in the examined films) yearning for the feeling of belonging, or, simply put, the feeling of home.
Viktors Freibergs, Head of Communication sciences department of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Latvia, gives lecture courses on Communication and semiotics, Cinema and the new media, and Visual narratives in cinema, among others. Besides he also gives lectures on film history and theory in the K.Suns movie theatre, and is regularly working with the Nordic Council of Ministers and other organisations.
