A look back at the 26th Riga International Short Film Festival 2ANNAS
The Riga International Short Film Festival 2ANNAS took place a month ago. Viewers were offered high-quality and diverse cinema on from around the world on the focus topic of this year 's festival - Human. At the temporary home of the Kaņepes Kultūras centrs in Diagonāle, at the RSU Anatomy Museum, at the KSuns cinema and online, visitors were greeted by competition and focus short film programs, competitions, parties, professional meetings and discussions.

Riga International Short Film Festival 2ANNAS award-winning film screenings
On May 13 and 14 in Tukums, in the yard of TukkuMaggi, it will be possible to watch short films awarded by the Riga International Short Film Festival 2ANNAS. More than 2,000 films were submitted to the festival, and the best international, Baltic, medium-length films, as well as short films for children and young people, were selected in four different competition programs. This will be a great opportunity to watch excellent movies from all over the world and a wide range of topics will allow everyone to find something relevant to them.

2ANNAS short-film programme at the “KINO PEDĀLIS” festival
On May 6th and 7th, the 7th velo and film festival “KINO PEDĀLIS” was held in Valmiera, where visitors were able to enjoy short-film festival 2ANNAS's specially prepared film programmes, delicious sweets and a warm evening. KINO NAKTS short films could be viewed in unique places like Valmieras stikla šķiedra, Pauku priedes, kultūrtelpa “Kurtuve”, Krāču kakta šķūnis and koncertzāle “Valmiera”.

This year the title of the Best Baltic short and the special prize, provided by BBRental & BBPosthouse goes to Sander Joon’s animation film „Sierra” (Estonia, 2022).
The winner of the Baltic competition was announced during the 2ANNAS ISFF 2022 edition’s awards ceremony. 2ANNAS team together with our prize sponsors and partners in crime BBRental / BBPosthouse declared the winner – film „Sierra” – and provided the director Sander Joon with an opportunity to rent full-service professional filming equipment or to benefit from their post-production services, worth 2000 EUR.

2ANNAS awards: Grand Prix goes to a Ukrainian film
The awards ceremony took place on 13 April at the cultural centre Kaņepes Kultūras Centrs - Diagonāle. Awards in multiple categories (Grand Prix, best fiction, best animation, best documentary short, best Baltic short, best mid-length film) were announced during the closing ceremony of the 26th Riga International Short Film Festival 2ANNAS. Youth and children's short film competition films were judged and announced by the spectators.

From HUMAN to metaspace: 2ANNAS festival begins, also proposing special events on Ukraine
The 26th Riga International Short Film Festival 2ANNAS (8 – 14 April) is about to commence. Artificial Intelligence (AI), queers and transhumanism are just a few of the thought-provoking topics depicted in this year’s festival program. Diverse and high-quality films, both in form and in content, will offer challenging, reflective and philosophical takes on the main subject matter – HUMAN. The festival’s screenings and thought-provoking conversations will take place at Kaņepes Kultūras centrs – Diagonāle (Skolas iela 14), KSuns cinema (Elizabetes iela 83/85) and online via the festival’s online platform. These venues will serve as a buzzing festival hub for all the competition and focus program screenings, as well as the main spot for social gatherings, networking events and discussions.

Festival 2ANNAS invites children and young adults to watch and review engaging film programs
For the fifth year in a row, 2ANNAS ISFF offers film programs designed especially for young audiences. Not only that the youngsters can watch shorts, but they can also take part in jury duty by becoming jury members. They are the main film reviewers. International Children’s and Youth Short Film Competition will take place at the cinema hall KSuns and online.

2ANNAS to tackle mental health issues occurring among the film industry professionals
2ANNAS Industry days will take place from April 12 to 13. This year's Industry Days will focus on a complex and pressing issue weighing down the whole film industry. Setting all the prejudices aside, together with industry professionals we will seek answers and aim to identify problems, reasons and possible solutions for bettering the working conditions on and off the film set.
